Class Suspension

No classes on July 8-10. No UPCAT Review on July 11.

From www.pshs.edu.ph

Classes are suspended from July 8 to 10 based on the recommendation of Dr. Corazon B. Batoon, the school's physician. For the month of June the medical clinic census showed a total of 274 consultations. The majority of which were Influenza-like illnesses (ILI) e.g. fever, cough, colds, sore throat, body aches etc. with a total number of 69. The suspension of classes will serve to:

  1. break the chain of viral transmission
  2. decrease the viral load to which our students and staff are exposed
  3. enable our students to recover fully prior to school entry without the burden of make- up lessons
  4. enable the school to undertake immediate preventive measures:
    1. sanitation and decontamination of the school premises e.g. classrooms, comfort rooms, cafeteria and other areas where students usually gather
    2. sanitation and decontamination of the four dormitories, it was noted that more than half of those affected with ILI are dormers.
    3. Also undertake anti-dengue activities: general clean-up of surroundings, localized spraying, etc.
  5. Protect the immunocompromised members of the PSHS community where Influenza A (H1N1) infection may have severe effects and outcome:
    1. Students and staff who have pre-existing conditions like bronchial asthma and pulmonary infection (PTB)
    2. Faculty and staff who have diabetes, those who are pregnant, elderly (50 years old and above) and most especially those receiving chemotherapy/cancer treatment .

The students are advised to stay home throughout the week. Please check the website for other announcements and instructions from your subject teachers.
